In POE2 Currency, each class offers unique mechanics and passive skills that greatly influence gameplay style. One such standout feature is the Infuse Weapon passive skill, a key ability for the Huntress class under the Amazon Ascension. This elemental mechanic enables players to enhance their projectile attacks with explosive effects, making it a vital component of many elemental Huntress builds. In this article, we’ll explore how Infuse Weapon works, how it’s triggered, and how to best utilize it in your Huntress character progression.
Unlocking Infuse Weapon: The Path Through Ascension
To access Infuse Weapon, players must first complete either the Trial of Sekhmas or the Trial of Chaos, two Ascension-specific challenges tied to the Huntress class. Upon completion, players can select the Amazon Ascension, unlocking a new passive tree with specialized nodes.
The Elemental Infusion node grants access to the Infuse Weapon skill and requires only 2 Ascension Points to obtain. Since even completing a trial at the lowest difficulty awards enough points to unlock this node, most players will be able to gain access to Infuse Weapon early in their Huntress build.
Infuse Weapon is a passive skill, meaning it functions automatically once its conditions are met. It is not a skill gem and cannot be assigned to an action bar, nor can it be used by other classes. Only Huntresses who have chosen the Amazon Ascension can use this effect.
How Elemental Infusion and Infuse Weapon Work Together
To understand how Infuse Weapon functions, it’s essential to look at its source: the Elemental Infusion passive node. The node works by converting consumed charges into temporary elemental infusions:
Expending an Energy Charge grants 2 Cold Infusions
Expending an Endurance Charge grants 2 Fire Infusions
Expending a Fury Charge grants 2 Lightning Infusions
Once your weapon has one or more of these elemental infusions, Infuse Weapon becomes active. The passive skill reads:
Imbues your weapon with enchantment. Making non-melee projectile attacks with this weapon consumes the infusion to infuse the fired projectile, causing it to explode at the end of its flight.
This essentially means that once an infusion is active, each qualifying attack uses one infusion to apply a POE 2 Currency powerful explosion effect upon hitting its target or reaching the end of its range.
However, Infuse Weapon itself doesn’t consume charges. Instead, another skill must first consume the appropriate charge (Fury, Endurance, or Energy), which then triggers the infusion effect granted by Elemental Infusion. After that, the next non-melee projectile skill used will consume an infusion and trigger an elemental explosion.
